A still from the short film Sister!. In a laundromat, James (Julia Wendt), wearing a teal hockey jersey and dark pants, holds up a bright pink sweatshirt that reads "SLUT GIRL" in white letters, looking toward Tessa (Tessa Belle), who sits cross-legged on a folding table surrounded by laundry, smiling back. Washing machines line both walls in the background.

Sister!

Sister! is a 13-minute queer comedy short film that had its world premiere at the 2025 Tribeca Film Festival. James (Julia Wendt), a transfemme diva, has been ignoring a persistent stranger named Tessa (Tessa Belle) who claims they are donor-conceived half-sisters through a shared sperm donor. When Tessa shows up at James’s door anyway, what unfolds is a chaotic, funny, and unexpectedly tender negotiation of trust, identity, and chosen connection. The focus is firmly on what the two characters decide to do with the potential connection in front of them.

The screenplay was written by Julia Wendt and Tessa Belle. Julia Wendt is donor-conceived.
